Fifth Earth Bound Orbit-Raising Maneuver For "CHANDRAYAAN -2" Successfully Performed

ISRO Said that all spacecraft parameters are normal. The next maneuver is Trans Lunar Insertion (TLI), is scheduled on August 14 between 3am and 4am (IST).

The fifth orbit raising activity for Indian's moon spacecraft Chandrayaan-2 was performed successfully at 3.27pm on Friday, the Indian Space Research Organisation  (ISRO) said.

ISRO said the orbit of the orbit Chandrayaan-2 was raised to 277 x 89,472 km by firing the onboard motors for 646 seconds. The manoeuvre was carried out at 3.27pm IST using the onboard propulsion system for a firing duration of 1041 seconds (-17 minutes), 4 days after the 4th orbit-raising was completed.

ISRO also informed that the next maneuver is Trans Lunar Insertion (TLI), which is scheduled on August 14 between 3am and 4am (IST).

A Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark III, carrying the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft, had lifted off at 2.43 pm on July 22 from the Staish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Chandrayaan-2 will explore a region of the moon where no mission has ever set food. The spacecraft
consists of an orbiter, a lander, and a rover together referred to as "Composite body".

The landing on the moon's south polar region is expected on September 6 this year. The Spacecraft
Chandrayaan-2 comprises of three segments -the orbiter (weighing 2,379 kg, eight payloads).

Chandrayaan-2 is scheduled to reach the Moon by August 20 and land on its surface on September 7.
Accroding to ISRO , the lander Vikram will land on the Moon on September 7.

The Chandrayaan-2 lunar mission will make India only the 4th nation in the World-behind US,Russia and Chaina - to have reached the Surface of the Moon.
