Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed the Uttarkashi District Magistrate
and Disaster Management Secretary to carry out rescue and evacuation operations and
Provide relief material to people impacted by the cloudburst.

The State Government has dispatched teams of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP),
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)
for rescue operations. However, the teams were facing issues to reach the spot as
transportation has been severely affected due to incessant rains.



Gangotri highway has been shut down after debris fell from mountains on the road.

Due to the cloudburst, several people have been stranded at various places in the area.



Cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli Distric, Badrinath Highway Closed. On Sunday,
 heavy rainfall in Tharali Tehsil of Uttarakhand's Chamoli District caused half-a-dozen
of vehicles parked on the road to bury under the debris.



Major damage was reported in Arakot, Makudi and Tikochi villages of the State.
All the three villages are connected to Himachal Pradesh and the road joining them
has been washed away due to the cloudburst.

A house also washed away in Arakot and five people present in the house were swept
away. According to Superintendent of Policw (SP) Uttarkashi Pankaj Bhatt, the Disaster
Management team has left to carry out rescue and evacuation process in the region.


About 25 people were feared dead, including six Army personnel, after a massive
landslide hit Malpa village on the Kailash Mansarovar  Yatra route and washed away
an Army camp in the nearby Ghatiyabagad area following a cloudburst in Uttarakhand's
Dharchula tehsil in Pithoragarh District early on Monday morning. Five bodies have been
recovered so far.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief  over the loss of lives due to 
cludburst and heavy rains in Uttarakhand and hoped normalcy would return there
at the earliest.

"I am grieved by the loss of lives caused due to cloudburst and heavy rain in
parts of Uttarakhand. Condolences to bereaved families", he tweeted.


"My prayers are with those injured. I hope normalcy returns to the rain-affected 
areas at the earliest",PM Modi added.
