He is hoping for a rain-free outing in the remaining two ODIs

Middle-order batsman Shreyas lyer is hoping that rain doesn't play spoilsport in the next
two ODIs against the West Indies in the oppoptunity to cement his spot in the Indian team.

lyer, who was a couple of half-centuries in the five ODI innings he has played so  far for
the national side, in coming into the team after an year and is eager to make the most of
opportunities that he belives will come his way if weather permits in the ongoing ODI series in the Carrbbean.

"It's really important for me as a youngster, coming into the side after a year
again to cement my position", lyer said on Saturday ahead to the second ODI.

The Mumbai-born batsman is mostly found playing at the No. position-the biggest
area of concern at present for the Menin Blue-but is open to any role in the batting
 order in the National team.

Even since the World Cup, india haven't had a chance to discuss the much-debated
number four spot so far as the first ODI got washed out. However, lyer said the team
will experiment and given several players a change to bat an cement that spot.

That means K.L.Rahul, Rishabh pant and lyer could get a change to pay at the spot
in the next couple of matches in the Caribbean island.

"He(Kohli) has set a different benchmark for all of us with his meticulousness.
It's a lesson that we all must learn about workload management on and off the
field. He is precise in his preparation, not a single thing   is ever taken lightly",
he said. So what's the tip he got from Kohli while batting together.

"We have just come out of T20s, which we won. The way the team is playing
currently, it's totally amazing",he said."If one doesn't perform, the next one
raises his hand and he takes the responsibility to take the team through  and
this is what has been happening throughout the year".
